In the Gulf there are a good variety of Royal Navy vessels but for some reason its appears to by the Type 22's that are charged with securing the Iraqi oil
terminals. HMS Chatham has just taken over duties from HMS Campbeltown. Is there any special reason that the Type 22's are used. Do they have lots of
smaller guns on them to warn off the small boats that can threaten the oil terminals? Or maybe they have very good surface search radar that can track all the
boats very accurately? I suppose also they need the ability and crew to process the radar information and to be able to control the 200 odd ships in the area
at any one time. There have been 2 Type 23's that have done the duty in between HMS Campbeltown and HMS Cornwall. I think it was HMS argyll and another 1.
Does the Type 22's have lots of spare space for extra crew that are training? Also is the helicopter deck maybe able to take a wide variety of different helicopters.
Personally i like the Type 22's and those sexy seawolf sextuple launchers.
I've never seen 1 lock and track and fire it would be quite impressive.
Also having 1 launcher at the front and 1 at the back must be quite useful. Is the 30mm goalkeeper CIWS capable of taking out surface ships that get to close
if nothing else is available? Also there are the Harpoon missiles but i don't know how useful these would be against small suicide boats.

Was that the defence against the iranian capture?
All joking aside what kind of CESM are we talking about here? I read that
CESM is Counter Electronic Support Measures but what does that mean when its at home.
