Assuming that Chile is willing to accept HMS Eagle as a carrier, rather than wanting the British to re-convert her back into a battleship, then in 1930 Chile
will have two capital warships, one of them an aircraft carrier, and the other one a 14" gunned battleship. With six Serrano class destroyers having been
comissioned within the last two years, it's time to round off the navy into a potent force. A full squadron of eight destroyers should be able to be
deployed at any one time, and at least two cruisers should be accomodated to help protect the extensive coastlines.
The question is though, should Chile bother rebuilding the Almirante Cochrane, or just keep her as she is? Also, should she purchase current or former ships from other navies, or have new hulls built? Perhaps the purchase of some Danae class cruisers from Britian would be suitable? And to maintain a force of eight DDs, I think at least six additional ones should be purchased. Clemson and Wickes class maybe?
What is everyone's thoughts on these matters?
And, as a side note, what would Britian do with the avilable carrier tonnage of Eagle's absence?
