Looking for a 2nd class battleship concept, a ship to be used in convoy escorts against commerce raiders, in blockades to plug off straits such as the GIUK
gap, and the channel, or as coastal defence vessels. These ships are to use second hand weapons or weapons that aren't in high demand. A free range is to
be given in handling displacement, however anything over 25,000 tons standard will not be accepted. Main armament is to be 13.5" guns firing a 1,400 lb
shell, in two twin turrets, one fore and one aft, with secondary armament composing of 12x4" (6x2) firing a 63.7 lb shell. Finally, light AA shall be the
1.575" pom-pom, mounted in quad groupings. No less than 10 quad mountings are preferred.
Speed is to be 25 knots, with a range of 10,000 nm at 18 knots. Armor should be sufficent to repel 11" gunfire at long ranges and 500 lb bomb hits on the deck. Good seakeeping and stability is a must. Provisions should be made for up to four seaplanes.
