It would all depend on the effectiveness of the AAW radar, the improved Barak-II SAMs, and the sonar.
Hard to say, since nothing I have seen lists just what radar is being fitted, and the SAM is a new development, with this class to be the first designed to carry it. I think we will have to wait & see. BTB, India is commonly discussed in the "Asian Navies" section, too. |

True,but since we are discussing a particular warship class I thought this board would be more appropriate.
Incidentaly I feel that India should lay more emphasis on destroyers like the Krivak III or Shivaliks so that they have an effective general purpose escort force.The Kolkatas are more like cruisers and while impressive would definitely require escorts to work effectively. PPP |

India is now a second world country. They have the cash and man power for the fleet they are building. And while they won't admit it, I suspect they would
like to have a Navy that could bring the war back to the PRC if the PRC should make a move against India.
