What strikes me, is the apparent Spanish attitude to industrial safety regulations - or don't they have them over there? Have a look at photos 2 & 3 in
the series. How many hard-hats being worn in the heavy engineering zone? No hi-viz vests; no eye protection; no hearing protection in evidence. Don't know
if it's the famous Latin "macho" outlook, but - do these guys honestly think they're safe from harm in an industrial zone just because
they're Admirals, politicians and company directors? I wonder if the same slack safety requirements apply to their rank-and-file workforce.

Hi guys,
since the resent presentation of the BPE for the South African armed forces included a side view that corresponds to all the recent CGI pictures I was able to come up with my version in shipbucket style. I am not sure of the electronic/radar fit but the rest should be pretty accurate. Enjoy and regards.

Thanks for the picture - very impressive.
Are the proposed outboard pods of the pull type? How far do they rotate? I think I saw on a previous schematic or model, double ended outboard pods of the push and pull type - can't for the life of me remember where! |

first of all, thanks a lot for all the compliments. Are the proposed outboard pods of the pull type?I actually don´t know whether they pull or push. They were depicted that way on the side view I took as reference. Guess they can turn 360°, can´t they? The one with the double ended pods you mention is the Australian version I guess. Marvelous. I've been wandering what you guys at Shipbucket would get around to this. I didn't have the nerve to try myself. Bravo! Well considering that the official Spanish Navy homepage still uses an old / different / wrong side view I thought it might be best to wait until some good reference shot comes along. especially for missile defence.]

All you say makes sense to me. However considering that those extra toys (especially the missile integration) would cost even more money I guess at least
mk-41+ESSM+MOUNT is a no-go. If it goes right than they´ll receive FAR as main radar set. But remember, the Anzacs are using the same CMS right now with the
Giraffe radar.

Some small points: This version is even more sketchy on the electronics side than the Spanish JCI. So Jim or anybody if you have any details just let me know. Note that the F-35 is not on deck. Don´t know if I got the colors of the camouflage scheme right. Regards. |
