Did any of the Western Allies produce a 'good' 75-mm HEAT round suitable for the Sherman & Cromwell tanks?
I cannot find any references to anything suitable, which I find interesting as the Germans had a half decent HEAT round for the late models of the Panzer IV. This could penetrate 100-mm of armour sloped at 30 degrees.
In theory such a round might even be able to breach the frontal hull armour on a Tiger 1 tank. As a result I wonder how Villers-Bocage might have panned out if the Cromwells had had a similar HEAT round at their disposal?
