Saw an article in today's Palm Beach Post that Palm Beach County (FL) is looking into acquiring the Clamagore for $1 million, via a company that provides vessels for artificial reefs, to become another artificial reef off the coast. This may occur as early as this summer according to the article. Apparently her current owner, the Patriots Point Maritime and Naval Museum in Charleston SC, has found her condition to be so poor that they can only keep her open for visitors for about another year or two. In addition the cost to refurbish her is about $6 million, which they do not have, and efforts by other groups to save her have fallen short. A decision on whether to go ahead with this is expected to be taken up by the County Commissioners at the next meeting.
