So first a Japanese coastal defence ship. My friend likes these kind of ships and I offered to draw a Japanese one as IJN lacked these kind of vessels though built 2 similar vessels for Thailand.

They use the recylced 30cm guns and turrets of the IJN Settsu with the first ship got the /50 calibre ones and the 2 sisters the shorter /45 ones. The secondary armament of 15,5cm triple are the ones intedned for the Tone class heavy cruisers, AA coverage are provided by the 12,7cm Type 89 and 25mm Type 96 AA guns.

Also I've created a possible upgrade of these ships as mobile heavy AA platforms and so the idea of coastal AA ship had born.

By removing half of the rescue boats, and all of the primary 30cm and secondary 15,5cm weaponry, I could add a large amount of 12,7cm Type 89 DP-AA guns and 25mm Type 96 AA Machine guns making it a formidable AA platform with the same heavy AA broadside of the might Yamato class battleships!

My friend suggested battleship names, but I thought maybe gorges are a nice addition to the names of IJN, so I decided to call this class of vessels as Shosen-kyo class coastal defence battleship.
