An esoteric question -
I have been reading Network-Centric Warfare by Friedman. The historical development of procedures and systems fascinates me, but the book skims lightly over the past until about 1950. He does specify, however, that by 1937 some 232 automatic dead-reckoning tables had been installed in HM ships. What I wish to know is, in what physical location on any specific ships were these devices installed? It is implied that the captain had a great deal of latitude in finding space to place them, because in the absence of experience nobody was sure where they would be the most useful.
