Hi everybody,

First thing I would like to thanks you for this forum.

Secondly, I DO hope that nobody will be offended by my threat. Please, forgive me if you are. 

I'm french (that's bad) and I want to join the french navy (that's worse). 

I 'm having a few aptitude test in 2 weeks time in ordrer to explain (in english) why I want to become a naval officier. 

But the thing is that I'm not excactly sure about how to translate the french job "officier chargé de la conduite des opérations". 

So, I would be very gratefull if you can read my description of the function, and then tell me what you think I should call this job. I had a look on the NATO vocabulary database but nothing rung a bell to me. 

---> The officer in charge of the conduct of operations is responsible of the navigation and security maters. He manage and conduct a team (a crew ?) reporting to the captain. He has to coordinate the actions to achieve specifics objectifs. He can works on a fleet or an aircraft carrier or in the headquarters (as a woman I can't work in a submarine but men can). The officer work in the wheel house with the commodore. 

Do I have to call it officer cadet ? Midshipman ? Officer of the watch ? Just officer ??
