In the budget proposal for 2008-2010 the Swedish armed forces say they want to modernize two of the four Göteborg class corvettes so that they can remain operational until 2020. These vessels almost certainly are HMS Gävle (now operating with UNIFIL outside Lebanon) and HMS Sundsvall. This is a complete turnaround since it was said earlier that all Göteborg class vessels would be phased out 2010 at the latest.
There has been a rumour around that two Gbg vessels would be sold to Croatia later this year, but this doesn't seem likely now. Nothing is said about the two Stockholm class corvettes, but they are good for a few more years having had a complete overhaul and rebuild in 2001-02.
In addition the armed forces are looking to acquire two support vessels for delivery in 2013 resp. 2015. The present support vessel HMS Trossö might be converted to intelligence collection ship and replace the existing (and ageing) HMS Orion, but the problem is that Trossö is still needed to support international deployments.
