The Baltimore class of CAs (which included USS Chicago as CA-136) have been listed as having the following historical stats:
"Max cruising radius: 4,800 miles at 25 knots; 7,900 miles at 15 knots"
Per personal discussion with engineering officers of USS Chicago in 1975 (then as CG-11), she consumed 30% of fuel at in an 8-hour watch at max speed. Assuming she could still do 33 knots in 1975 and allowing for a smidge improvement as she lightened, that would be ~900 miles. Mixing the CA-136 1945 data with the 1975 datum assumes any of the modest propulsion plant improvements that were likely done to her when she was refitted to be CG-11 were essentially offset by the age of her basic plant, etc.:
15 knots - 7,900 miles
25 knots - 2,800 miles
33 knots - 900 miles
You can probably get correction/confirmation from other old hands, but I'd guess that the optimum cruising speed for Chicago was probably closer to 12 knots than 15 knots, but I could be wrong.
Again, just guesstimating, I'd suggest for the CA classes:
<=12 - 10,000
--- 15 - 8,000
--- 20 - 5,000
--- 25 - 3,000
--- 30+ 1,000
