What will become of the 4 Airbus tankers under contract if Boeing wins new contract.

Not really sure about that, what a mess this tanker business is why can't the USAF just do it properly what were they thinking! If they are going spare the
RAF could do with them please. We only have some stupid PFI agreement where the tankers aren't even ours and we only get 5 to use in normal situations or
something really stupid like that! Maybe they will be stripped of tanker equipment and sold on or maybe they will be sold to Omega for tanker duties. I think
as much as most people think boeing have won this now i'm not so sure. How long is it before we get the decision. I'm glad i'm not the person
flying arond in 60 year old KC-135 they will be hitting 80 year old planes by the time they are replaced! almost unbelivable

When the KC-45 contract award was announced, no funds were obligated. That means NG wasn't authorized to begin work on the contract. Boeing's
subsequent successful protest wiped out that award, so there are no Airbus tankers under contract for the USAF right now.

Yes but we only had £14bn to spend so you can't expect too much! |

I have to correct myself here. Some money was obligated, but a stop-work order was issued before any of the
construction work was begun. Airbus will have already been paid for any work done and any material acquired on the contract (but not anything it spent on its
own in anticipation of the award), but that will be far less than the total contract value. With the recompete, the Air Force will have to write a new
contract, regardless of who wins.

have lost. Now that is just fine with me. NG has plenty of work and, quite frankly, I want my tax dollars going to US workers not europeans. Ialso want the
design work done at home.
You folks want airbus to build tankers? Let the EU buy them and I will say good for you. About time you lot actually bought enough gear to equip your poor troops properly. Maybe in future you will be less of a strain on US logistics. But that's just me. I'm funny that way. |

When are you going to clean Boeing up?
They did the dirty over the orriginal tanker replacement, which was damn subsidy by the back door. Now they buy back into the running. |

Who did they 'buy back' and how much did it cost?
Really, if you're going to talk trash, at least provide some back up. |

From my dimly reccaled memory it's gone something like this.
And the whole thing is supposedly riddled with Pork Barrel politics. |

One must remember is that multinationals -- a group of which Boeing most definitely belongs -- use patriotism-based arguments when it's to their monetary
benefit. I'm sure Boeing will also explain, quite vociferously, why it's better for the US for them to export all their software development to India
or manufacturing to China.

Zen9,
At the very least do your homework, or have someone else do it for you, or spend more time on the Home Planet. Boeing took no one to court. If you don't understand how the process works, hire a surrogate who does. |
