Interesting, there are a lot of spelling mistakes in that news paper article.

Roswell "happened" in early July (the exact date is open to conjecture), 1947, just under two years after VJ Day.

So it is highly unlikely that it was a fūsen bakudan that was found at Roswell, impossible, actually. More likely it was a weather balloon than a alien space ship, and more likely it was a alien space ship than a fire balloon. The journey across the Pacific on the Jet Stream took three days, and then, with the assumption it was above the US, the control system cause it to release its payload and self destruct.

The last fire balloon launched was 3/11/44 (November), and although balloons were found in the 1950s and even, in Alaska, in the 1990s, I find it highly improbable that a Rancher had failed to spot a balloon on his property for over three years.

They carried explosives as well as disease and chemical filled containers.

Japan had experience in China with Biological warefare and what it could do so drop a little on the US.

Explosives yes, BC not as far as I know, do you have a source for that?

Apparently it was decided that people in the US should not be told of this and secrecy then surrounded everything to do with these balloons and apparently still does today.

It is definately not still secret today; I mean; I've known about this for as long as I remember, I think I remember my father telling me when I was little whilst we were looking at a hot air balloon. Wiki, also, has a page about it, so no, its far from still being secret. Little known yes, secret, no.

If the American people had been made aware of this there is no limit of what might have happened with reguards to the Japanese people and Japan. Thats my opinion anyway.

The American people were not made aware of this not to protect the Japanese from their wrath, but rather, to stop the Japanese realising the effectiveness as a weapon (or even if they had crossed the ocean). It worked too, without any evidence of any success, and helped by thedestruction of the manufacturing plants soon after, construction and launches ceased. After the deaths detailed in the attatched articles (incidentally, the only lethal attack on American soil by these balloons), the US lifted the censorship so people were aware of the danger and those in threatened areas could react accordingly. As far as I have been able to deduce once they were told this there was no massive enlistment to slit the throat of every Japanese man, woman and child, so I think you are wrong in that respect too.

Perhaps it shows you an extra dimension as to why the Japanese and Germans were to fight on so commitedly and bloodily. You claim that if this had become common knowledge (which it was, eventually) anything could have happened to the Japanese. As the article attatched says, "...destruction of their greatest cities by our sky fleets..." bit bigger than killing a single young girl on a Church outing, don't you think?

Sorry, this is my first post on this actual forum of the board, but I have been lurking, and I felt I had to point out the numerous inaccuracies in this post.

I did not say I did not "like" the spelling, just that there seemed a few spelling mistakes in the article, more than this mornings Gruniad in fact.

Apparently you have never been on a ranch that streaches for miles and miles. Its rare that anyone actually sees very much of it. I only see where I normaly go which is what everyone else does as well.

Quite right. The nearest I have been on a ranch is watching John Wayne. However, on consideration, I am willing to accept that perhaps the wreckage was a Fu-Go balloon discovered by a rancher, this is slightly less probable than it being what the military says it was; a MOGUL balloon. I am not, and have not been, trying to claim that this was an Alien Spaceship. Out of curiosity though, no matter how big a Ranch, wouldn't the Rancher, or someone on his behalf have been around pretty much the whole thing in the two years since the end of the war? There is a limited opportunity in which a Fu-Go balloon could have got there, in any case, and this is what leads me to deduce that it is unlikely that a Fu-Go balloon in the regards of Roswell.

The Japanese played with biological warfare and tried it on the chinese to see the results no doubt with the intention of using it. And yes somewhere I have a USN paper on that.

I know that too. You are again missing my point. You claimed that the Fu-Go balloons had Chem-Bio weapons in this line in the initial post:

That is what I am asking you to prove, because nowhere have I seen any reference to them having anything other than an explosive payload, or any evidence of a Chem-Bio attack on the USA in World War Two. That is what I am asking for evidence of.

I don't think that you have any idea of the animosity of the US general public to both the japanese and the germans after PH. There are still a great many of us alive.

That is where you are perhaps wrong. Having two grandparents and four 'grand' uncles involved in the Second World War, half of which were engaged in the East, including one who ended the war in a Japanese Camp, I am well aware of the animosity held by this generation toward enemy, and the Japanese in particular. You have again missed my point and have moved the goalposts. You claimed that if the American public knew what the Japanese were doing with regards to the balloon bombs then "…there is no limit of what might have happened with reguards to the Japanese people and Japan. Not only have you kind of invalidated your own argument with the previous claim that there was animosity anyway, you have ignored what I said that perhaps you can understand the ferocity of the continuance of Japanese fighting after the firebombing of their cities if you claim that the death of a few Churchgoers would have resulted in "no limit" to what could have happened to Japan if only the American people would have known. For what is worth, I think the American people did know, and the killing of the Churchgoers would have negible effect on a nation galvanised by what they had seen in Pearl Harbour and in the campaign across the Pacific since.

As for secrecy I think the only thing you have ever read or seen is something a newspaper or TV story about the big coverup about the alien craft landing somewhere. But the stories always seem to blame the US government from not releasing the truth. So what you are reading is BS to sell advertizing to companies trying to sell products but they publish no facts.

This artical is one of only 3 or 4 I have ever seen in my life that actualy names the Japanese and says it was a balloon of their making.

Again, that is where you are wrong. I am very aware of the conflicting opinions and claims of what was, or was not, recovered at Roswell. I also think that you are confusing things; the event in the newspaper is not Roswell, it is a completely unconnected event that happened two years previously.

I am confused by your second claim. Do you mean that the article names the Japanese Balloon for the Roswell incident (which it doesn't) or that it names the Japanese Balloon for this incident. It was because of this incident detailed in the newspaper that the reporting ban for balloon attacks was raised, to inform the public better and prevent this from happening again…which it didn't.

By the way their release mechanism did not work well or there would not have been a balloon.

I know. But the plan for attack was for the balloons to be destroyed and release their ordnance over wherever they happened to be; which mostly was the Pacific Ocean.

I'm not sure what you are trying to claim any more, to be honest.
