One in Japan (I forgot her name, sorry)
USS Texas, BB35
USS North Carolina, BB55
USS Massachusetts, BB59
USS Alabama, BB60
USS New Jersey, BB62
USS Missouri, BB63
USS Wisconsin, BB64
Of these, the Japanese BB is already on dry land, incased in concrete. I expect Texas to one day also be on dry land as her hull is getting pretty bad, and leaks, again. North Carolina is in mud, not a good thing. She has been scheduled for years to be pulled out, dry-docked and repairs. I am not sure, at this point this will ever happen, so we may loose her, eventually. Massachusetts, had a dry-dock refit about 9 years ago, and she seems to be well cared for, I think she will be around for her 100th birthday, but probibly need another dry-dock repair before then. Alabama is pretty much stuck where she is and had hull repairs a few years ago by building a coffer-dam around her, but I think she will not last for many more years (maybe 15-20). Iowa's fate depends greatly on which group eventually receives her. New Jersey has the worst condition of all the Iowas, I don't see any money for her to receive a major refit in the future. Missouri will receive all the care she needs, because of her historic significants (actually all the remaining BBs have their place in history, but most only remember Missouri). Wisconsin also seems like she will receive the care she needs.
So, between now and 2045, I see the number of museum Battleships reducing by 3 ships. BBs USS North Carolina, BB55, USS Alabama, BB60, and USS New Jersey, BB62 will all be scrapped. Several peices of Naval history will be gone forever.
I do not think at this point Iowa will ever find a good home, and she may be the first BB scrapped since 1963.
What do you guys think.
