He might know. We all have seen Jutland pix taken by Brits. I do not recall ones taken by Germans, though. You know, depending on how Fox's pix are received, maybe another delta?

How long will it take for even Fox's text stories to get back to the States? What if his editors wanted to ask him follow-up Qs before they published more than a few pieces? How long are the time constants for all of these elements? Well based on two things. Fox has stories and Fox has photo's. Both can go in a pouch and get delivered to the US consolate/Embassy ( their was facilities for papers to ship in diplomatic pouched reports ). Fox can also have the pouch sent via Italy and sail back to the US. Either way the pouch is going to be about 2 to 3 weeks. Now for the stories, Fox has another option. He can have them telegraphed ( major cost ). Personally I see hsi stories and photo's being copied and shipped to the US via Neutral most likely in a diplomatic pouch. If Letter's and Fox can come to an understanding, the photo's of the rescue and ships sinking could be held off for a month or so. If Letter's stays in character, The two DN's lost will be reported to the RN along with the records of RN sailors found in the disguise of full disclosure ( confirmation of RN ships sunk ) to see if any german's were recovered by the RN. This seeing photo's of an orderly evacuation of a German ship sinking with little ot no loss of life will hardly seem strategic. Also Fox seems to be the human piece person of the Blue and Fox team. The photo's of all the passangers working in the liners and having fun will also be a great boon for the PR people in Germany. They will easily be able to make a deal. With Balin and Letter's and Even I think Hanzik on his side, Fox will be well fed on stories for a very long time if he wishes, I feel, to keep the US happy and show Germany in a better light to the American's. Why, because the German's know what they are not getting and they know what the Entente is. They also now have Hanzik's account of US naval strength and arm flexing might. They saw 3 naval yards, New York, Boston and Phili. All are bigger than the largest yard in Germany. That has to say something. Keep the neutral reporter happy and maybe try to get the US to try to break the blockade. If not, keep them from financing the Entente. Just some thoughts.

Would German authorities trust the Yank diplo pouch against Brit advance snooping? Two weeks would need a very fast passage after a fast Euro transit. Three weeks seems a best case. Or, so it might seem. ;-)

Two highlights for me, the 'return' from SMS Bremen and all accompanying TB's under the Cover of the High Seas Fleet. Her chance to reach Wilhelmshafen and safety have greatly improved. The first of Forth Battlesquadron's Flottillen have arrived, fine. Hope to read more here. Foxes dialogue with Ballin were interesting to read. Also many of the Entente cables were actually run by US firms ( Western Union for one ) under lease signed with British firms and holding companies. Also if Italy hasn't gone to war, they will have an active cable to the Ottoman's btw. I've gone through the list of cables and there are 3 different US controlled cables going from Italy to the US. So unless the Entente wants to raid or cut all the cables??? As for the Dipomatic pouch issue. Yes Germany would trust it. They'd also help guard it if they thought it was that much of a security issue ( which I don't think it would ). Many were sent from Berlin until 1917 with no issues.

That is, the Yanks might in fact be fiercely protective and the Brits completely honorable, but I have trouble with the Germans being willing to bet very much on that. These are, after all, the same Yanks who are cooperating with the Brits on matters that are anti-Neutral.

What if Blue and browning had already put in place an agreement with balin and hanzik to tag team so to speak. Browning gets back and speaks to his times- union mob and also to Blues mob for a co-operative effort between the two papers. This would give them an effective monopoly on unfettered news from Europe. I'm sure that the second Browning got back there would have been newsies from these two networks on the first yank ship to italy including at least one reporter that Blue would recognise. This way Blue could come home with his stories to be cross examined while the networks still had the monopoly. they don't even have to really speak German as I'm sure the Germans would be willing to supply translators. Just a thought I had and remember the newspaper business is highly competitive. It would surprise me if other papers had journos on the same ship just to try and prevent a complete whitewash by Blue and Brownings papers. Or, so it might seem. ;-) OTOH, the Germans still have the Wireless link to the US, so it is not cut off from Europe at all. They can get any message to Washington they want (like the Zimmermann telegram) although the British would be reading it, too.
