Stu Slade did a lot of research into the Peacemaker for TBO and it was pretty much un-interceptable until at least 1955. In fact at altitude the B-36 could out turn fighters of the day. It sounds like that AH is indulging in a bit of handwavium. For example he's got the Germans introducing supersonic fighters in 1949/50. I'm sorry to say that given German designers of the era did not really understand supersonics (few did) a fighter with a performance of Mach 1.2-1.5 is pure sci-fi. I wouldn't be surprised if he is one of these people who believes in the 'Napkinwaffe' fighters and bombers. TBO was a pretty plausible AH, Shattered World, OTOH, is getting into sci-fi/fantasy territory. I'm going to give it a miss.

No doubt Ivan's gunners (and Kim-Chump Il's, along with Saddam's) have felt Steel Rain coming down on them on numerous occasions. TLWverse would have had the MLRS equipped with SADARM, RAAM (Remote Delivered AntiArmor Mine), and unitary warheads along with the submunition ones (whch some far-left types wail against due to the problem with duds-these folks remind me of the "useful idiots" I learned about in Poli-Sci). No doubt there's some Crusaders waiting for their turn at Fort Sill to take a C-5M to Germany to get their combat initation.

Basic principle is that the Soviets take Poland in the mid 30s and go to war with the Axis over Romania about a year or so later. The Axis drive deep into Russia and almost take Leningrad. Everything as a dystopian feeling to it, with ABC weapons in use on all sides ( except nukes, so far only the Allies have them ) and a very gruesome WW2 that is waged with what is essentially RL 1950s technology. the USSR going to war in the mid thirties means no purge of the officers and also means a much weaker Wehrmacht with PzKw I & II as best tanks and being in the middle of a huge expansion. AFAIK Japan had the choice between attacking and conquering indonesia for it's oil or retreat from China to end the boycot, how are they going to fuel their fleet in 1945 after a 4year boycot? Also, with a Isolationist US that is not at war I don't think you'd see a Manhattan project before 1945 either. And while Nazis and Communists are busy with slaughtering each other France&the United Kingdom will be busy with rearming themselves. I'd say that AH has a few holes in it...

Besides 2S19 doesn't look bad compared to the Paladin and a continued CW would probably lead to a 2S19M or even a new SPH in the mid/late nineties BTW, IMNSHO TBO is one of the worst AH ever and only plausible if the Devil is an American Patriot the British Empire kicking out Britain itself for making peace with the Germans? Japan succesfully conquering China?(well, sorta kinda) Thailand(a Japanese lackey in WWII) becoming SE Asias Prussia? Preemptively bombing the Champs Elysées as a warning against France!?

Btw in @ Lord Halifax did attempt to contact the Germans with an armistice proposal, though they took too long to reply to it and WSC found out. Essentially the Empire has planned for the fact that an armistice might be a possibility, the famous Daventry broadcast instructed the Dominions that they were to act as they saw best. In effect they chose not to recognise the armistice as being legal, or recognise the Halifax government. Post-'42 it seems that WSC is regarded as the legal Prime Minister. One thing we can always count on is that the Soviets have good artillery.

Not only for this, but also for various other reasons my dislike for Halifax is only surpassed by the hatred for Neville Chanberlain. He was the last one who could have stopped Hitler with relatively low Bloodshed and did nothing.... In any case, my personal dislike of TBo could have something to do with the fact that it turned my Hometown and my country into a smoking, glowing crater and essentially screwed up the whole continent even mroe than it was in @, not the quality of the writing which was very good. I came to the conclusion that had we gone to war over the Czechs in '38 then we would probably have lost any Battle of Britain. If we had wanted to do something about the Nazis we really should have done something over the Rhineland, but the British government decided to do nothing and the French did not want to do anything without us. At least Chamberlain did the right thing in September '39, I'll be Halifax would not have. Stu wanted to show what would happen if the Nazis did do better early in the war (a staple of AH fiction), they do a lot worse later on. TBO was an antidote to the 'Rommel and Nazi wonder-weapons win the war' type of AH. Let's face it, we've seen a lot of them.
