It looks as if Boris may have done it. What a relief! Red Ken has been around as Mayor of London for as long as I can remember. He has run London as if it
were a State within a State. He is Britain's answer to Hugo Chavez.
Labour have done badly. Good, they deserved it. I'm not so sure that the Tories deserved their victory though? It seems that the way British politics has
gone for most of the past 60 years or more and on into the foreseeable future is more of the same. Either Labour or Conservative get elected and become
entrenched in power. They capture the middle ground and the electoral system and media help them win election after election. They acquire the arrogance of
office and declare that they are now the 'natural Party of Government' and that 'they will go on and on'. After 10 or 15 years despite
whatever triuphs or failures that may have befallen them, the public suddenly have had enough and they vote for change. Labour have outlived their sell-by
date and it is time to clear the shelves and order in some new stock.
