I feel sorry for that Super Hornet parked on elevator 2. Salt water does a real good number on the canopy.

So (layman question) why not use some sort of cover (you know, like those for cars in winter)? Could save some tax money, could it not? Best Regards Ralph |

Oh... there are canopy covers for the hanger bay since there are not 30++ knot winds blowing in there. Having a canopy cover on the flight deck with that
weather will only serve as something for the ocean to keep when the wind blows it off. The current design used by most squadrons use a band to warp around the
front of the canopy and two extensions on the aft end of the canopy called in some cirlces as 'dog ears' where is anchored. But it can be ripped off.
On base we use them so that when bird crap lands on the canopy it doesn't eat away at the flowcoat on the canopy. But that is besides the point, this Super Hornet in the video does not have one. |
