I've got the same Spruance (not the Type42 bastardised hybrid ) as an Airfix kit. I always find it interesting how the US Navy makes room for additional weapons at the stern of the ship, even behind the flightdeck on the Spruance/Kidd/Tico (I believe they all use the same hull?). Oh BTW, in the proper Spruance-class units, what was the weapons fit immediately in front of the foc'sle? On my model I've got ASROC as well as Tomahawk armoured-box launchers... no idea if that's correct though! The Sea Dart is an interesting fit

I always find it interesting how the US Navy makes room for additional weapons at the stern of the ship, even behind the flightdeck on the Spruance/Kidd/Tico (I believe they all use the same hull?). The Spruance/Kidd/Tico all used the same hull design. The flight deck on these classes was moved inboard for better helecoptor handling. The canceled Arleigh Burke Flight III had the flight deck inboard and the VLS on the stern. DDX continue the design feature. The Spruance fit initally was the Mk45 gun on the bow with the ASROC launcher inboard. A small number of Spruances had Tomahawk Armored Box launchers fitted. The ASROC could still be turned and fired. The ASROC was removed @1993.

Perhaps you mean behind the forecastle, as wouldn't something ahead of the forecastle be before the pointy bit in front?
