ERGM was de-funded yesterday and not a peep in here?

I was surprised--I'd thought they had the damned thing more or less working now.
Worse, apparently BTERM didn't do well in its last round of tests either, so there isn't an obvious fall-back.

ERGM was de-funded yesterday and not a peep in here? It's not that we weren't interested, it's just that we wanted you, MarkF, to be the very first of the ERGManians to publically acknowledge that it's actually happened. |

What will the five inch guns with the 62 calibre barrels shoot now that the ERGM and BTERM are defunded?

The 127mm/62 Mk45 mod4 gun is still funded and in production. They will shoot what they are shooting now.

Well, we know that the technology does work, but as I said else where, it just that we might be pushing the envelop too far foe a 5in shell. It might be time
to look at reducing the range requirement back to the old minimums, say 45 nm rather than push for the whole 63 at once. We also might look at the what can be
done with other weapons such as POLAR.

This 5-inch air breathing ramjet projectile from ATK has real possibilities. But like POLAR, the Navy hasn't asked for it, so it could be that it will get as little serious consideration from the Navy as POLAR got. |

ATK's ramjet assisted projectile looks impressive along with their other product lines. Does anyone know what the range is on Very Long Range-Air Breathing
shell is? A pity though the USN may never adopt it.
