The high visibilty and daylight actions in the Med meant that most actions occurred at ranges 200-250hm. I have a list of hits on my home computer which I'll post. Italian doctrine was to fire at ranges over 200hm at which range the Dreyer FC gear on the older RN BBs was less effective.
The USN fast BBs proved their ability to hit at 1. point blank range and 2. continental land masses. This doesn't give an accurate representation of the actual ability of their FC system. If we go by wartime experience the South Dakotas are likely to suffer complete electrical failure shortly after action is joined.
With regards to the accuracy of the guns / armour tables. There isn't a great deal of data on French and Italian tests to try and fit to the estimated data. Not knowing doesn't mean worse.
