I find the "planned visit" the most disgusting part. If the ship is supposed to be at least a week and a halfs cruise towards the Indian Ocean how
could this be a planned visit to Portland for repairs!!!

I know that the Orion Deployment 'sailed' on 21 January, but I believe they have not yet 'deployed' and are probably working up prior to
sailing. I say this as Westminster and Edinburgh have been operating from Devonport up until last week. Trafalgar has been running in and out of Plymouth Sound
and the RFA Fort Austin is still moored to a buoy in Plymouth Sound. The only ships I have noted transitting into the med have been the two minehunters and RFA
Diligence. So perhaps there is a work up programme taking placebefore the main group departs UK - perhaps Jimlad knows more.

I'd hazard a guess that ORION is somewhat under resourced. Politico's have decided that a trip out east for the ANdrew is jolly good and shows that the
mob isn't over stretched. However, we are, and this is going to be rather scrappy job to cobble together enough bodies and kit to do the job safely, let
alone effectively.
Pure guesswork and conjecture, and I hope I am told otherwise sharpish. |

It will be vastly amusing (embarrassing) if something similar happens when the group is out with the Indians - especially if the ex-Hermes is going strong !
I don't know which would be worse, whether this is poor maintenance or disgruntled sabotage. . |
