All of the whining has result in a giant step backward to 1994! This is the worst threaded format I've seen in recent memory and it make the forum almost impossible to browse through. I know there are more than a few elderly posters, but this sort of format is deplorable for even the most technology adverse users.
I agree. It seems that in this threaded format, we don't get icons to show which reply/replies in a tree is new (at least we don't on the Royal Navy
board), and the Quick Reply box is between the presently viewed post and the tree. Insidetheweb and elevenoclock (remember those?) were easier to read in
threaded view.
I've noticed a strange thing, btw. Some replies actually are placed ahead of the ones they're replying to, also - for instance, Theodore earlier gave
us a short warning, stating he' was "going to change this board to the threaded view in a few minutes". I read that before Theodore had thrown
the switch. MSR made a post titled "On second thoughts..." where he notes that in nested view, he can't collapse threads, so the board is
over-dominated by this topic. So MSR obviously made his reply after Theodore made his post (when I first saw Theodore's post, MSR had not yet written
his), but yet the thread tree shows Theodore's post as being a reply to MSR's post.
