Concerning your statement about the times the radar was being used for training, I believe it was stated previously that these were the times that the radar
conditions were the worst. This was why it was the best time for training.
In your referenced book about the gaps in Oahu radar coverage, was there any information regarding the altitude limits on the blanked area? Usually blanked
areas caused by terrain features have certain lower limits for any given distance. Any aircraft above these limits are usually detected as usual.
