Can't say I've heard that, Simon, but I wouldn't be surprised. A mate of mine was attached to the Black Watch Battle Group during TELIC 1, so
I'll try and ask him about it next time I see him.

Well, no non-Commonwealth army perhaps. There are Scots and Irish units in Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Moreover both the Indian and
Pakistani armies maintain pipe bands.

In 1987 Denmark ordered 12 "Fennec" AS 550 C2 for Anti-tank operations. The were delivered from aug 1990 onwards and armed with 4 TOWs.

They're better than nothing, Benjamin. If the Danes upgrade to TOW-2B then they'll continue to be an effective weapon.
Until recently the British Army depended on TOW armed Lynx AH.7s, which is not entirely different a capability to what the Danes have, though the Lynx had eight rather than four missiles. In the TLWverse the German forces operating in Schleswig-Holstein, where the Danish Jutland Division currently is, will have plenty of UH Tigers, so the Danes will probably send their Fennecs to Zealand. The 2nd (UK) Infantry Brigade will also bring an AAC Apache AH.1 squadron with it. Anybody got any ideas as to what the Canadians might end up with? Apache, Tiger, AH-1Z Cobra, or something else? |
