Total cost afaik supposedly was 2.5 billion DKR (€ 335 million) for both ships fully fitted out, i.e. € 167.5 million per ship. That is with reuse from SF300 boats. CMS, sonar, main radar, CIWS e.g. are new, fire-control radars as well as most other weapon systems e.g. are reused.
F125 and Absalon aren't really comparable though. Absalon isn't built to military standards (instead commercial standard with some military aspects e.g. for magazines and such). That roughly doubles hull cost really already. Then add another 50% for the fact that F125 is supposed to operate two full years without major maintenance / yard time. With that, the pure hull comparison price of something like ~€130m vs ~€380m doesn't look that bad.
Germany simply doesn't build to commercial standard. The only ships in the German Navy built to similar standards were the Type 404 tenders, and the EGVs. Which, at about €300 million, were pretty cheap too for a 20,000-ton ship.
Hi again,
sorry just for my clarification: I figured that the 2.5 billion DKR were for the ships as it was delivered by the yard. That is without all the reused
equipment and without the goodies installed since than, e.g. Smart-S, Millenium, CMS, MU-90 etc. Am I wrong? If not, are there any information publicly
available aboput the those contracts? (Like the stated 255 million € for reused equipment for the F125)
As for the comparison, I will take your word for it that military building standard roughly double the hull cost, since I don´t know jack about that. (Living
300 km from the coast:-)) Both ships compare in their mission area though, don´t you agree?
Regards.
