You can argue forever about technical merit or combat capabilities and never reach agreement but to me at least the most beautiful battleships ever built were
the Iowas. They were so well proportioned so balanced and so functional. Nothing was done to make them pretty they just were . There is something about the 3
triple turret layout that seems so right

Agincourt! Maybe its the name (don't think they would be allowed to use it these days) but there is something about the seven twin turret layout all on
the centre line that just seems so right I always liked the look of the South Dakota class too; compact, fully functional, no frills, punch above their weight "don't you mess with me boy". |
