He officially dropped out of the race holding 300 pledged delegates. With a brokered convention looming he could have been a player, not a spectator. He
could have been a kingmaker.

Back 3 months ago I saw this thing going to a tie and figured Edwards would stay in so his pledged delegates would have bee a bargaining chip for one of the
other 2. The price being the VP slot, or at least SecState as a min.
As an alternatetive he could have convinced the supers to draw a stalemate so the second (open round) all of the delegates could have repledged to him giving him the nomination. The DNC has built an unwinnable system pushing unwinnable candidates. |

After watching the Democrat primaries for a few elections, how could anyone be sure that the preselection process wasn't designed by a disaffected Democrat
Actually, my expectation is that it was designed and approves by a committee of committees.

Actually, the Democratic system was designed by George McGovern after the convention in Chicago (1968) split the Democratic Party. Once again, the evil of
proportional representation leads to deadlock.
The GOP uses the Electoral College method.

Republican; because not everyone can be on welfare.

The top two get into a second and final round to determine the candidate. Most votes = presidential candidate. No need to create unneceesary electoral middlemen that can be traded like a commodity. |
