I pre-ordered it via USNI and at the time publication was mid October, USNI sent me a confirmation of order yesterday which appears to say publication mid December. Does anyone know when it will be published?

Does anyone have a reliable publication date for this (Naval Firepower : Battleship Guns and Gunnery in the Dreadnought Era)?

My ship date was recently pushed back to 21 January 2008 by Amazon. Second pushback in the last two months.

Groan re the Friedman book, thanks for the update NG. Lazy authors/publishers etc.
Less Christmas cheer and more slaving to get me my goodies please! The USNI website is listing the Brown Atlantic Escorts book as published October 2007 but don't know how often they update their information.

I received my copy of 'Atlantic Escorts' on Dec 24 via Waterstones, who were cheapest at the time. Amazon.co.uk have it in stock for £17.50. Note its
now published by Seaforth Publishing, not Chatham as originally suggested. Seaforth seem to be a new imprint of Pen and Sword books, something to look out for
from them is a new revised edition of Buxton's 'Big Gun Monitors' due in the Spring

Amazon just notified me that this book was pushed back again. Now they're saying that they don't even have an estimated arrival date, which says to me
that the authors/publishers are having problems.

Seaforth is simply the new name for Chatham, recently acquired by Pen & Sword. This is actually a promising development, as the deeper pockets of
P&S may empower Seaforth.

Will it cover US monitors as well?
Later, Bill

FWIW, my copy of Brown's Atlantic Escorts arrived today from USNI. Hopefully, Friedman's book
won't be too far behind.
BTY, Buxton's original Big Gun Monitors covered only British monitors, and only 1914-1965. I doubt if USN monitors, either War Between the States or late 19th-early 20th century will be included. Bennett |
