        <![CDATA[ I have often heard that the colour of the Sydney harbour bridge is &quot;battleship grey&quot;. 


Given that:




  The bridge was completed in the early 1930&#39;s and that AFAIK it has been the same colour ever since
  

  To me it is a very dark grey, with a slight blue/purple tint, even almost black in some light.
 I&#39;m wondering if it would be the dark grey colour known variously as AP507A a.ka. home fleet grey?

			<description><![CDATA[ Jonathan, Sydney has always been one of the world&#39;s most photogenic cities.  That said, I can remember the eastern view from Greenwich Point at 0730 on a
workday in the 1970s.  Waiting for the company launch to pick us up &amp; take us to our workplace on Cockatoo Island, we&#39;d look at the sulphurous
yellow-green cloud concealing the lower half of the Bridge and think: My God - people are actually <em>breathing</em> that stuff.  The introduction of unleaded
petrol shortly afterwards... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ You are right Cliff. The cooler temperatures definately make sleeping easier but this is mid Autumn weather. I honestly can&#39;t recall sleeping with a Doona
( and one that is OK in winter as well ) in February. My mother was English and she really did not like the hot summers. She would have been most comfortable
this summer.

			<description><![CDATA[ A Corporal is essentially a senior private with some advanced individual training.   Master Corporal is the same as the old pre-Unification Corporal.  
It&#39;s the equivalent of a US E-5 grade.   A MCPL used to be a section commander, but since the later seventies has been a section 2i/c.  Sergeants are now
section commanders but used to be platoon 2i/c.  Warrant Officers (old Staff Sergeant) are now Platoon 2i/c as well still as being Company Quartermaster

			<description><![CDATA[ I have noticed that there does not seem to be a lance-corporal rank in the CF, though the rank insignia does seem to be worn by a &#39;Trained Private&#39;.
Does Master Corporal maybe have the same relationship to Corporal in the CF that Corporal does to Lance-Corporal in the other Commonwealth armies? ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ MS is an appointment...your date of seniority is when you made LS, not MS although MS normally supervise LS. It makes things a bit touchy when you get a long
service killick (LS) promoted to MS and he&#39;s suddenly senior to the &quot;whiz kid&quot; that was just writing his PER&#39;s.

The RCN always had a &quot;Master Seaman&quot; around, but he was the senior killick in the mess. It wasn&#39;t official, he was just the guy that represented
