Does anyone has recent information about the 4 DDGs ex-KIDD to be transfered to Taiwan?

Also, are there any drawings of the final look or pictures available of some transformations being made on the structure of the ships?

I ask this because I consulted the last ed. of &quot;Warships IFR&quot; and there it has a pic of a ex-KIDD being prepared in the US before transfer.

Mainly, the structure above the bridge &quot;seems&quot; to being modified in some scale, although it is difficult... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ Well, the remaining 100 SM-2 Block IIIB were bought in 2007 to bring the inventory to full for the 4 Kidds, but still not enough for stockpile yet, which
should be bought through out the next 15 years. And authorization of funding for the 12 P-3C, 9 Patriot 3(upgrade of existing 3 battery of PAC-2 GEM to PAC-3,
and 4+2 new PAC-3 batteries) plus the 8 SSK submarine deal were just passed by end of 2007. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I believe that the Kidds are armed with RIM-66K-2 (Standard Missile SM-2MR Block IIIA NTU version). The Block IIIA seems to be the favored export version. Most
of the USN&#39;s SM-2MR have been upgraded to Block IIIB. Block IIIB standards have <strike>an option for terminal IR homing, so terminal illumination
isn&#39;t needed.</strike> [correction: Block IIIB has a supplemental IR that activates if the terminal homming is jammed]. The SM-6 which is in development

			<description><![CDATA[ As a former Kidd class DDG sailor, I can tell you that we carried the SM-2MR. The ER bird was shot from the MK10 launcher found on Leahy, Belknap, and Long
Beach class CG&#39;s and Coontz class DDG&#39;s. The New Threat Upgrade added the SPS-48E and SPS49 air search radars plus SYS-2 which allowed the ships to use
a mid course guidance system that gave the missiles greater range because of a more fuel efficient flight profile. The Scott was the NTU test ship from &#39;88

			<description><![CDATA[ The Kidds never carried RIM-67 SM-2ER.  That missile is not compatible with the rapid-cycle Mk 26 trainable rail launcher. Contrary to the comment on the NavWeaps page, the new RIM-156 (SM-2 Block IV) series is not compatible with the Mk26, only with VLS.  The booster makes this missile too long to fit in the Mk 26 magazine. Thus, the only SAMs for the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>Kidd </em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->class are the RIM-66 SM-2MR series.<br>

			<description><![CDATA[ The SPG-60 radar on board, usually used as gun fire control radar, can also be used to direct SM-2 missiles. As with SM-2, which is mid course correction, terminal phase guided, Kidd would have 3 channels of streaming missiles in the air, and only need the 3 radars to provide terminal guidence in the terminal phase of the missile flight.<br>

The 1st pair of Kidds were returned to Taiwan in mid December 2005 and commissioned few days later. 2nd pair of Kidd DDGs would return to Taiwan... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Actually with the NTU upgrades the Kidds recieved they can have rather more missiles in the air, as the SPG51 now only needs to be used for final illumination, which shouldn't take more than a few seconds per target. <br>
It's anyone's guess how much missiles the Kidds can now control in flight, but I wouldn't be surprised at eight missiles in the air at once, and possibly more. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I had never noticed that only two SPG51  radars are installed and then, AFAIK, only two missiles could be guided, only one vs targets approaching from forward or from aft.<br>

Then such a large destroyer is not really much more capable for AAW than old and smaller destroyers like japanese Hatakaze, italian De La Penne or french Cassard.  <br>

I wonder why those twin launchers have not been coupled to at least 3 guidance radars. ]]></description>
