The BBC's Age of terror got round to describing this incident last night but from what i could see the plane seemed to spend a very long time on the ground at Algiers - enough for a 'mole' to tell the French what the plot was.

There must be something worth defending in there. Consider how casualty intollerant the Medhi Army are. Consider how easily they collapsed in Basra against an Iraqi Army that was not always terribly well organised not to put too fine a point on it. Only in Sadr City is there still fighting. The Medhi are taking a beating. I think it is fair to say that dozens are being killed or injured every day.
