Hypothetical RN Battleship 1916. Your thoughts?

Assume that ww1 happens at about the same time or later than historical and that the latest RN battleships (Royal Sovereign-class) are laid down as improved Queen Elizabeth-class ships. There will be an earlier Mackensen class BB as response in Germany (basically 6 x 38cm instead of 8 x 35cm, the originally approved design, laid down a year earlier). By 1916 no conclusive information regarding the staying power in capital ship engagements are aviable other than a few ACR / BC engagements....

Amphibious Support Cruiser (Modern Day)

Does anyone have a concept for an shore bombardement vessel, modern day version? Using existing tried and true technology, and trying to make it about as simple and inexpensive as possible. Something similar to a Tic class cruiser, but downscaled some, using only self defense weapons or weapons optimized for attacking land targets.

Basically the outlines for the vessel, or requirements, is that it have two 5" guns, one fore and one aft, a single Mk 41 VLS cell for Tomahawk...

Here are a few items that would prove hugely useful if there is to be a follow-on version of Springsharp:

1) Nuclear Power: the size/weight/volume of the reactor(s) would be determined by their power output and how long the reactor is intended to operate between refuellings

3) Missile Systems: these include but are not limited to cruise missiles, surface-to-air missiles, rolling airframe missiles, etc

The next beta release of SpringSharp 3.0 has been uploaded.

This is the first release that requires .Net Framework 2.0. You may need to download this unless you use Vista or another program that required it.

This release has been restructured so it is much smaller and faster. Beta 2 when converted to .Net 2.0 and used on a Pentium 4.0 with Vista suffered a massive speed drop. The restructured version may still have some new instabilities or places where it does not...

In 1932 the Greek Navy sends their two pre-dreadnought battleships to the United States for a complete refit to counter the German Pocket Battleships. Design requirements are as follows:

1. Main armament size will remain the same. Example: 12" guns cannot be replaced with 16" guns.
2. Endurance can be lower than normal. Greek Navy only plans to have them near their coasts, not cruise the oceans.

This is fully taking advantage of hindsight, but how would you go about designing a high speed transport capable of landing infantry, vehicles, or supplies (but mainly the former and latter), in hostile territory (specifically, I'm looking for a purpose built vessel to serve in the Solomon campaigns in 1942) during the night time?
