According to the May 2008 edition of Ships Monthly, The French Cruiser Colbert, which has been 'on display' at Bordeaux since 1993, is to be towed to Brest for use as a spares resovoir for ships 'of the same generation' still in service. After this, she will be scrapped. A sad end for a fine ship. The tow is scheduled for 29th May, Weather permitting.

Also to go is the former HMS Windrush, a River class frigate built at Leith in 1943, which after service on the...

She is 62 metres overall length and has what appears to be an automatic 20mm gun for'd.

I cannot find anything that looks like her in either 2006-07 Janes or Combat Fleets (15th edition), or on the net.
Maybe someone in Denmark will know?

Gen Jean-Louis Georgelin said troops moved in after the Ponant came ashore, seized six pirates and probably found part of a ransom paid by its owners.

Despite a few inaccuracies, excessive claims and onesidedness, it still is a very comprehensive look at a state-of-the-art frigate, written by a respectable trade journalist. Standing Maritime Group ONE in Copenhagen (pictures)

NATO force SNMG1 Standing Maritime Group ONE visited Copenhagen this week.

I took some photos of the 4 frigates F101 SPS Alvaro de Bazan, F103 SPS Blas De Lezo (Spain),F209 Rheinland-Pfalz (Germany) and F330 Vasco de Gama (Portugal)

Unforunately the position of the sun made it very difficult to take good photo's of the German and Portugese ships, so I'll only post the best pictures of the spanish frigates.

Hello all,

I am wondering if any Western navy had ever contemplated an anti-nuclear submarine role for its conventional submarines.

The navies of the UK, Netherlands and Norway had diesel/electric submarines and their main operational areas were the Norwegian Sea, North Sea and GIUK gap AFAIK (not sure about the Barents Sea). My speculation is that the Norwegian navy's diesel/electric boats could have had a fair chance of meeting Russian nuclear ones.

I was allowed to visit Korsør naval base and take pictures of the new OPV Knud Rasmussen (P570) and the new coastal patrol craft Diana (P520).
Unfortunately the Absalon brothers had left harbor.

Thinking of going over from good old England to either the Dutch navy days on the 11-13 Jul 08 or the tall ships races on the 20 - 23 August 2008 . Just wanted to know from any local which would be the best both for naval vessels and value for money . Will there be any non Dutch naval vessels at the tall ships races . Any help please .
