So, the Indian Naval circles are abuzz with rumours of getting their hands on a "surplus CVF"...

The article appears to suggest 3 being built to achieve economies of scale and selling 1 to India. Whereas of course we all know that if India did get 1 of the hulls, it wouldn't be surplus at all, it would be Prince Of Wales...

Hi, strolling for wikipedia Ive noticed that it has names for boats 5 & 6 of Agamemnon and Anson. I know wikipedia isnt reliable and have searched google and a few other websites have these names. Are these official and I've missed it or is wikipedia wrong and idiots are just copying it as fact?

The BBC reported yeaterday that the Institute of Fiscal Studies claim that the pre-Budget report implies £15bn in spending cuts not yet identified by the government between 2011 and 2014. These will be cuts to non 'ringfenced' departments - the NHS and Schools. Meanwhile Defence, higher education, transport and housing have been identified as the most at risk departments.

With the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, i find it hard to beleive that either a Labour or...

Sounds like Brown is not very popular.

Gordon Brown was snubbed by badly injured Afghan veterans when they closed curtains round their beds during a hospital visit and refused to speak to him.

More than half the soldiers being treated at the Selly Oak hospital ward in Birmingham either asked for the curtains to be closed or deliberately avoided the prime minister, according to several of those present.

The soldiers, who have sustained some of the worst injuries...

The Government's "Pre-Budget Statement" ( AKA "Autumn Statement" ) is due out on Wednesday.

Does anyone know what the requirements would be in terms of defence spending (over several years) to actually cover the commitments that we have entered into (e.g. Afghanistan, replacing operational losses [including worn-out kit, etc]) and future spending plans (e.g. Aircraft Carriers, FSCs and whatever the Army is getting for its land forces (FRES ???????)....
